Unveiling the Resilience Within: A Journey Through Parkinson’s Disease

In the quiet moments of solitude, I found myself searching for a voice that seemed to slip away. Parkinson’s Disease may have attempted to silence me, but it never conquered my spirit. As I embark on writing my new book, Find Your Roar, I reflect on a life dedicated to service and the unexpected journey that led me here.

For 40 years, I devoted myself to serving others, navigating the intricate webs of nonprofit organizations and advocating for the welfare of children. From my tenure as Chief Executive Officer at Josiah White’s to my involvement in various boards and committees, I witnessed the resilience of the human spirit amidst adversity.

In 2019, Parkinson’s Disease formally introduced itself into my life, bringing with it a series of challenges. Yet, with unwavering support from my wife Kathy, our children, and the profound belief in something greater, we confronted each setback with resilience.

As I pen down my experiences, I am reminded that while Parkinson’s may have momentarily taken my voice, it didn’t silence my roar. It’s a testament to the indomitable human spirit and the power of faith that propels us forward, even in the face of adversity.

Together with Kathy, my partner of 50 years, we continue to embrace life’s journey from our home in Sweetser, Indiana, cherishing our family and the legacy we’ve built. Our story is one of resilience, faith, and the enduring strength found in embracing life’s challenges with courage.

Join me as I navigate the depths of Parkinson’s Disease, finding solace in the midst of struggle and uncovering the resilience that lies within each of us. Find Your Roar isn’t just a memoir; it’s a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to triumph over adversity and discover our true voices, even in the most unexpected of places.
